Recent initiatives by the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies

The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (CPNS) is part of the Faculty of Business at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).  PilchConnect works collaboratively with the CPNS and share regular dialogue on current issues of importance to the not-for-profit sector.

This page highlights some of the recent initiatives of the CPNS, and links to those projects that can assist your community organisations in its performance.

The CPNS 'developing your board' project

The CPNS is currently developing a free online tool which aims to provide NFP groups with guidance and assistance with good governance and effective boards.  This project will allow boards to undertake a free evaluation process through the completion of online surveys, eventually allowing that organisation to:

  • benchmark their own performance against that of comparable boards; and
  • assess their own performance over time.

CPNS has produced its first pilot online survey for NFPs that is focussed on the role of the chair and of the board.  This survey is currently in testing stage and community groups are invited to participate through a registration process.

More information on the CPNS 'developing your board' project, and details on how to register can be found on the CPNS site at: https://wiki.qut.edu.au/display/CPNS/DYB+Home
