Legal training on request
Are you organising legal training for not-for-profit community organisations?
PilchConnect is available to undertake legal training for not-for-profit organisations (NFPs) on request, on a fee for service basis.
What topics can PilchConnect train on?
Excellent in every respect. [The lawyer] was a great presenter. Handouts were very clearly expressed and complex info made easy to understand and "DIY".
PilchConnect can deliver training on a range of topics including:
- Navigating the maze: an overview of legal issues for new NFPs
- Incorporation: should we incorporate our NFP?
- Legal duties of not-for-profit board or committee members
- Understanding the rules of an incorporated association
- OHS and risk management for community groups
- Legal issues in managing volunteers
- Updates on changes to laws affecting NFPs (including recent changes to Victoria's incorporated associations law)
We can also design and deliver training programs on other legal issues by request.
For details of our most popular training sessions, see PilchConnect's Training 'On Request' information below.
Who does PilchConnect provide training 'on request' for?
This training should be mandatory for all people volunteering on a Committee or Board. Terrific seminar - presenters knowledgeable and approachable.
PilchConnect has provided training on request for a range of clients. We are happy to be contacted by:
- local councils
- public sector bodies
- NFP peak bodies
- networks
- community organisations that work with other NFPs
about legal training for your member groups or for community organisations you regularly work with.
Individual NFP organisations are also welcome to contact us for training on request. Generally a minimum of 20 participants per session is desirable to enable training to be delivered at a reasonable rate per participant.
Who delivers the training?
All PilchConnect's trainers are qualified lawyers with a number of years of experience in providing legal advice and training to NFPs. We also have lawyers with qualifications in tertiary education and adult learning.
See PilchConnect staff profiles here.
Where will PilchConnect deliver training?
I would recommend PilchConnect to the community organisations I interact with.
PilchConnect aims to provide legal services to NFPs across Victoria. Our lawyers can travel to outer-metropolitan and regional areas to provide training.
We have delivered training in Mildura, Wangaratta, Portland and Bairnsdale, as well as many other regional centres.
We always try to come out to regional areas where we can.
What is the cost of training on request?
I was delighted to attend an inexpensive, highly professional training session.
Please contact us to tell us more about your training needs, and then we can provide you with a quote based on the training you require, the length of the training, travel and other costs.
Our rates are very reasonable and, as PilchConnect is itself a NFP, all fees from training are used to fund our programs to provide legal help to NFPs across Victoria.
How do I find out more?
For all NFP training inquiries please email us at
connect@pilch.org.au, or contact PilchConnect Training directly on (03) 8636 4453.
What other training does PilchConnect do?
In 2013 PilchConnect will again be running our regular not-for-profit seminar series – hosted at the venues of our members firms in Melbourne.
We will also run limited training in outer-metropolitan and regional Victoria. See here for details.
