Financial reporting in tough economic times: meeting your legal obligations

This seminar will cover financial reporting, and in particular:

  • the responsibilities of Committee of Management/Board members; and
  • compliance.

Understanding your financial reporting obligations is important at any time but never more so than when times are tough.  What does your organisation need to know about its legal obligations, and how can you best ensure compliance?  What are the roles and responsibilities of Committee of Management/Board members in relation to financial reporting and what should you look out for when money is tight?

Mark Shying, Senior Policy Advisor CPA

Dr Mark Shying CPA is the Senior Policy Adviser of CPA Australia in the area of financial reporting.  Mark's key responsibilities involve oversight of all aspects of financial reporting.  In the past 12 months Mark represented CPA Australia at the Senate Economic Committee inquiry of the charity sector and been directly involved in CPA Australia's discussions with Australian Treasury about the reporting and auditing requirements of public companies limited by guarantee.  Mark has held a number of honorary Treasurer positions in small not for profit entities.
