Simple Rules
PilchConnect has developed a set of Simple Rules to assist incorporated associations drafting their own rules.
Remember, your group can update its exisiting rules, or adopt the new model rules. For more information about your group's rules options go the the PilchConnect Rules Review Project Page.
The Simple Rules are a starting point for groups drafting their own rules.
It is very important to understand the following points before using the rules:
- PilchConnect cannot guarantee the rules suit the needs of your organisation. If you have any doubt, you should seek legal advice
- the Simple Rules are not suitable for groups with charitable tax concessions or groups seeking to be registered as a charity
- PilchConnect cannot provide assistance to groups adapting the rules or legal advice about the rules unless your group meets PilchConnect's eligibility criteria for telephone advice or a referral to a private lawyer. See PilchConnect's Advice page for more information on eligibility
- if any of the following apply to you group, you should seek legal advice before changing your rules:
- you have a complex memerbship structure
- you access tax concessions
- you have contractual arrangements that may impact how you can change your rules, or
- you are required to gain a Minister's consent prior to changing your rules.
The Rules Review information resources have been designed to help your group work through changing or adopting new rules for itself.
