Intervention Order Training

A Magistrate may make an intervention order under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (where there is a family relationship or a person is or has been involved in a relationship) or the Stalking Intervention Orders Act 2008 (where there is no family relationship or the parties are neighbours or friends). This session provided HPLC lawyers with an overview of intervention orders – what they are, what they do, and how to assist clients who want to obtain or extend an intervention order, or oppose the granting/extension of an intervention order.

Ethics Training

This session considered a number of recent case studies of matters where HPLC lawyers have been faced with a variety of ethical issues when assisting their client. This session aimed to provide a number of strategies for dealing with matters where ethical issues are raised.
