Register for the Victorian Bar Legal Assistance Scheme (VBLAS)
What pro bono work can you do with VBLAS?
VBLAS facilitates pro bono referrals in diverse areas of law including migration, human rights, administrative, family, bankruptcy, crime, tenancy and discrimination. VBLAS welcomes registration by members of the Victorian Bar in any area of law.
What are the benefits of registering for VBLAS?
While many barristers already engage in pro bono work on an ad hoc basis, participating through VBLAS allows PILCH and the Victorian Bar to formally record and acknowledge your contribution to pro bono, and assess the areas in which there continues to be an unmet legal need.
As a VBLAS member you also receive invites to PILCH's free pro bono seminar series and copies of our bi-monthly publication PILCH Matters, which provides up to date information on pro bono and public interest law.
What do you need to do to register for VBLAS?
Complete a registration form
If you would like to register as a pro bono barrister for VBLAS, you can download our application form, complete and return it to
vblas@pilch.org.au. There is no fee for registration. Registering for the scheme does not commit you to pro bono work. Each barrister will make a decision on a case by case basis as to whether they have the capacity and expertise to assist with the pro bono referral.
