Yesterday morning we had a peaceful send-off for our sweet boy, Stuart Little. We called him Stooch. His dementia and CHF were just too much for his rickety little body to keep up with. So Craig built a fire and we snuggled on a nest of blankets. That’s Stuart’s favorite. And when it was time to head to the vet, we wrapped him up, rubbed lavender oil on his ears and listened to classical music while we rocked him to sleep one last time. He passed very peacefully in my arms. W...e had about 7 months with him. It’s never long enough. He enjoyed many trips to the cabin in Door County, dipped his toes in Lake Michigan, kept me company at the wineries, hiked along behind me in Peninsula State Park. He was my constant shadow. He would’ve followed me to the ends of the Earth. I’ll miss him dearly. Paloma is very shy/unsure/timid because of her lack of sufficient human interaction, affection & guidance. It’s obvious Paloma craves intimacy and structure, yet she doesn’t understand how to go about receiving it. She will follow you everywhere, yet if you approach her she will scurry away as fast as she can. Paloma will require a very patient pet parent to give her the time and space she needs to blossom and the gentle guidance she requires to learn how to be a confident young lady. Paloma would do best in a quiet home with a predictable day-to-day schedule and another calm, confident canine companion.
