In late 2004 or early 2005 there will be a federal election.
The federal parliament is responsible for policies and programs in areas including homelessness, housing, health care, human rights, anti-discrimination and social security.
It is estimated that up to 80,000 homeless people were not enrolled or did not vote at the 2001 federal election.
The more homeless people that enrol to vote, the greater the power and influence that homeless people and advocates will wield.
The Homeless Persons' Voting Information and Enrolment Kit contains:
- Voting at the Federal Election Fact Sheet;
- Itinerant Elector Application Form;
- Silent Elector Application Form; and
- Normal Elector Application Form.
We encourage you to distribute the Information and Enrolment Kit among clients and workers, including by assisting clients to enrol to vote as part of any assessment and intake procedures.
Let's vote for an end to homelessness!
