Organised, co-ordinated pro bono work can reap many benefits for PILCH members.
Referrals through PILCH often involve important public interest issues and sometimes attract media attention. PILCH places great importance on acknowledging member contributions. PILCH achieves this through numerous publications and our Annual Report. Such documents are circulated to the legal profession and wider community.
The pro bono legal work and the secondee solicitor program have been shown to increase staff satisfaction, retention and better recruitment. It encourages broad experience for junior lawyers in public interest matters, enabling insight into the legal issues facing the community. For law firms and corporate legal departments, the positive flow-on effects are obvious.
PILCH members can also participate in the Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic and the Secondee Solicitors Program.
