It's Thankful Thursday and we're so grateful for invertebrates like the Spiny brittle star (Ophiothrix spiculata). Being one of the most mobile echinoderms out there, the brittle star is very agile and can be found in a variety of habitats including kelp forests, rocky reefs, and sandy areas. Though closely related to sea stars, the brittle star is distinct in its morphology with their flexible, skinny arms.
