The Road to Recovery:

Collaboration in Crisis Management

The Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) invites you to attend its 2009 Annual General Meeting.

The formal business section of the AGM (for members only) will be followed with a speech by Christine Nixon, Chair of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority.

Christine will reflect upon her experience on the ground in the aftermath of the Victorian Bushfires and the value of collaborative approaches to emergency management and recovery processes.

The Victorian Bushfires of 7 February 2025 were a tragedy unparalleled in the history of Victoria. In the days and weeks that followed the fires, the legal profession recognised the need for coordinated and targeted legal assistance for Victorians affected by the bushfires. With the generous support of our member firms, PILCH acted in collaboration with the Victorian Bar, Victoria Legal Aid, the Federation of Community Legal Centres, the Victorian Law Foundation and the Law Institute of Victoria to organise a unified response to the unique and unprecedented demand for legal assistance to emerge from the bushfires through the Bushfire Legal Help Project.
