Human Rights

PILCH is committed to protecting and promoting the human rights of all persons, especially the marginalised and disadvantaged, through its policy, advocacy and law reform work (and also its casework).  PILCH also aims to build the capacity of the legal and community sectors to use and incorporate human rights norms and standards in their own work.

PILCH’s work on human rights has focused recently on the death penalty, non-discrimination and equality and the national human rights consultation.  Other areas of focus include the rights of asylum seekers, people with mental illness, people affected by climate change, and people affected by counter-terrorism laws or the exercise of police powers.
